A video lesson about the three features of connected speech in spoken English: assimilation, elision & intrusion (= liaison with /w/, /j/, and /r/). Assimilation describes the process by which one sound changes to become more similar to another sound close to it. Elision means that we lose a sound, usually at the end of a word. Intrusion means a new sound is added. We also call this liaison with /j/, /w/ and /r/. All of these features of connected speech allow us to speak faster and more fluently.
