This video teaches you all about syllables in English. You learn what a syllable is and how to identify syllables in words, using three different methods: the hand-chin method, the clapping method and – my favourite one – the robot voice method!
Syllables consist of exactly one vowel sound and so it is important not to confuse sounds and letters. Then we are going to have a look at examples of words consisting of just one syllable, two syllables, three syllables and even words containing seven and eight syllables.
Last but not least, I will introduce you to the longest word in English with 19 syllables and 45 letters – crazy but true! Check it out. At the end there is also a short test for you to see how much you have understood.
