Short Vowel Exercise

In this video we are going to practise the seven short vowel sounds of British English. Vowel sounds are also called monophthongs. They can be long or short.

In this video we are focusing on the short vowels only. You can find short vowels in many words in English. For example, ‘fit’, ‘fun’, ‘fox’, ‘foot’, ‘fell’, ‘fat’ and ‘for’ all contain short vowels.

The video starts off with a quick revision. After that you can test yourself: can you find the word which does not belong in the group?
