In todayโs video, weโre learning about the silent L in English words. Youโll find that in many common words, the L appears in writing but is not pronounced when you speak. It is completely silent!
Here is an example of a word you definitely know:

Indeed, the L is not pronounced at all! Instead, we simply say /wษหk/. We move from the vowel sound directly to the /k/ sound – there is no L in between.
Here are some more examples: In words like talk, calm, would and could the letter L is also completely silent.ย

Similarly, salmon and almond also have a silent L.
